Bartomeu Defends His Time at Barcelona: “We Won 13 Titles in Six Years”

Bartomeu

Former Josep Maria Bartomeu has defended his time in charge of FC Barcelona, saying the criticism he receives is unfair and not based on facts.

“It Makes Me Laugh When They Say I Was the Worst President”

Bartomeu said he does not agree with the idea that he was the worst president in the club’s history and questioned how people judge his time at the club.

He said: “It makes me laugh when they say I was the worst president. Under what parameter?”

Points to Trophies and Financial Results

The former Barcelona president defended himself by pointing to the number of trophies won during his time in charge.

He added that in his six-year term the club won 13 titles and also generated more than €100 million for Barcelona.

Blames the Pandemic for Delays

Bartomeu also said the COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on the club’s plans, especially when it came to the stadium renovation project.

According to him, the renovation would probably have started earlier if the pandemic had not happened.

Still Defending His Presidency

The comments show that Bartomeu continues to defend his period as Barcelona president, despite the strong criticism he has received in recent years.
