Kulusevski Eyes World Cup Return After Successful Knee Procedure
Tottenham attacker Dejan Kulusevski has delivered an encouraging update on his recovery from a long-term knee injury, revealing that his focus is now firmly set on returning in time for Sweden’s World Cup campaign this summer.
The Swedish international has been out of action since May after suffering a serious issue with his right knee during Spurs’ clash against Crystal Palace. What initially looked like a routine challenge later led to surgery on his patella, forcing the 25-year-old into an extended spell on the sidelines.
Although early expectations suggested a possible return by late December, Kulusevski is still working his way back to full fitness. Recent images of him visiting Sweden’s national team camp, where he appeared to walk with a slight limp, had sparked concern among supporters.
However, the former Juventus playmaker has now reassured fans, explaining that a minor follow-up procedure carried out two weeks ago has significantly improved his condition.
Speaking to Swedish broadcaster Viaplay, Kulusevski described the procedure as a positive step in identifying and resolving the lingering issue.
“People were worried, but there was no reason for concern. The procedure was actually something very positive because it helped us finally locate the problem. Now it feels like everything has been fixed.”
The Tottenham star added that his recovery is moving in the right direction and that he is beginning to feel confident again.
“Now it’s about taking the right steps and building up slowly. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, and my knee feels much better.”
Kulusevski also made it clear that his ambition is to be part of Sweden’s squad should they overcome Poland in Tuesday’s crucial World Cup qualifier and secure a place at the tournament in the United States.
With the World Cup only a few months away, the Spurs forward remains optimistic that this difficult chapter is nearing its conclusion.
“I have a very positive feeling about these important matches for Sweden and hopefully the World Cup later this year. I truly believe this story will end the way I want it to.”
For Tottenham and Sweden alike, Kulusevski’s recovery could arrive at the perfect moment ahead of a decisive summer.
