Manchester United Planning Major Summer Overhaul
Manchester United are preparing for one of their biggest summer rebuilds in recent years, with the club hoping to raise more than £100 million through player sales.
Several high-profile names could leave Old Trafford as United look to reshape the squad and reduce the wage bill ahead of next season. Among the players expected to depart are Manuel Ugarte, Joshua Zirkzee, Andre Onana, Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford.
United believe that permanent deals for Rashford and Hojlund alone could generate a significant amount of money. Rashford is currently on loan at Barcelona, but the club want a permanent sale rather than another temporary deal. Meanwhile, Napoli are expected to complete a permanent move for Hojlund after his loan spell.
The club are also preparing to lose several senior players whose contracts expire this summer. Casemiro has already confirmed he will leave Old Trafford, while United are not expected to renew the deals of Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia.
With so many exits expected, Manchester United are targeting several new signings, especially in midfield. The club see central midfield as their top priority and could sign two or even three players in that area if Ugarte also leaves. Elliot Anderson has emerged as one of their leading targets, while players such as Sandro Tonali, Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba have also been linked with the club.
United are also looking to strengthen other positions, including left wing and left back, as they continue their long-term rebuild under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s leadership. The club want a younger, more athletic squad capable of competing for the Premier League title and returning to the Champions League on a regular basis.
