Tuchel Explains Decision to Leave Trent Alexander-Arnold Out: “It’s a Difficult Choice”

Thomas Tuchel has spoken about his decision to leave Trent Alexander-Arnold out, admitting the situation was difficult and that he even spoke directly with the Liverpool defender.
Tuchel Spoke to Trent Personally
The coach confirmed that he had a phone call with Alexander-Arnold to explain the situation and the reasons behind the decision.
He said: “We had a call. I tried to explain the situation but Trent just has to accept it.”
“It Creates Noise” When You Leave Him Out
Tuchel also admitted that leaving out a player like Alexander-Arnold always creates attention and criticism, especially because of how important he is at club level.
He added: “I know that it creates noise when you leave a player like Trent out. It’s a sportive choice and a difficult choice.”
Admits the Decision May Feel Unfair
The coach did not hide that the decision could feel unfair from the player’s perspective, but insisted that tough choices are part of football at the highest level.
Tuchel said: “Maybe it’s unfair to a certain degree but these choices have to be made.”
Focus Now on the Team Selection
Despite the reaction, Tuchel made it clear that the decision was purely based on sporting reasons and not anything outside football.
